All classes are held at the Bakeshop, taught by our knowledgeable bakers.   Class are $55 unless otherwise noted, payment will be requested at sign-up or within 2 days if reserving a spot by email.Sign up by email at companionbakeshop@gmail.com,

 

Thurs May 16, 6:30-8:30pm… Sourdough Basics

Learn to start and care for your own unique sourdough starter, and put it into action in delicious home-baked, naturally-leavened bread!  Our experienced bread-bakers will work hands-on with you through every step of the process, and you’ll go home with an amazing new set of knowledge and skills, as well as fresh bread.

 

Sun May 26, 4:30-6:30 pm – Young Chefs – Kid’s Baking Class

Roll up your sleeves next to your young chef as they learn how to mix, form, bake, and fill their own thumbprint cookies, and seasonal fruit galettes! (And of course, eat.) Along the way we will touch upon nutrition, where our baking ingredients come from, and safety in the kitchen.Class is taught by bakers at Companion with a background in youth education. Class is for 6+ years. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Thurs May 30, 6:30-8:30 pm… Croissants and Laminate Dough

Lthe dough, as well as a basic puff pastry dough, to make both sweet and savory pastries to impress your friends and family.

 

Thurs June 6, 6:30-8:30pm… Advanced Sourdough Breads

Have you taken Sourdough Basics with us, or are you an experienced home bread-baker already?  Take your baking to the next level and learn about some of the subtleties of different sourdough starters, methods, and styles of bread that require a more practiced hand.  Get hands-on and go home with great recipes and fresh bread!

 

Thurs June 20, 6:30-8:30pm… Baking with Strawberries

Ah, the strawberry! That quintessential summer fruit that lends itself so well to pastries of all sorts.  We’ll explore several different ways to showcase berries at their best, in simple, superb recipes that are easy to assemble at home.  From galettes to shortcake, we’ll make use of the summer bounty!

 

Sun June 30, 4:30-6:30 pm… Young Chefs – Kid’s Baking Class

Watch your young chef bake, assemble, and enjoy some homemade Oreo cookies!·Then help them get sticky as they whip up their own batch of fresh granola to take home.·Along the way we will touch upon nutrition, where our baking ingredients come from, and safety in the kitchen.· * See above description for details

 

Thurs July 11, 6:30-8:30pm … The Chocolate Chip Cookie, Demystified!

Twill go in-depth into the subtle science that differentiates cakey from chewy, crispy from soft, and so forth.  The results?  A mastery of the “perfect” chocolate chip cookie, exactly how you like it!

Sun July 21, 5-7pm… Exquisite Coffee at Home  *$35  Be your own barista!  Learn from our experienced, knowledgeable baristas about various types of coffee, and how to source it and brew it to perfection every time!  We’ll cover aspects of single-origin coffees and blends, and brew methods from pour-over to French press.

*in-between, this is where really get into that perfect slice of summer pie.
